PAB Yellow and Red Color Challenge

Good Morning! Welcome to the second Pholkart Blessings color challenge! The colors for this challenge are RED and YELLOW. It just so happens that those are my favorite two colors so this was a fun challenge for me to do. I used this fun Back2School image for my projects today. 

I have a friend that teaches kindergarden in a low income school and she usually has a few students that are lacking school supplies. I know she puts lots of her own money into her classroom so I try and get a basket together for her at the beginning of the year with some of the basics from her class supply list. Not only am I able to help out a little, it works great for me since I LOVE to buy school supplies and have no little ones to buy them for, so it is a win-win for both of us. 

One of the things I love about digital images is the fact that I can change the size of them depending on the project that I am making. On this Post-It holder, I was able to make the image small enough to fit on this 5 x 7 frame. I added some alphabet paper from DCWV and some 3-D apple stickers to finish the project. 

I also wanted to make her an altered composition book, personalized with her name. I used the same image, but larger this time since I had a lot more area to work with. So they would coordinate, I used the same alphabet paper, the same red and yellow card stock papers and then I used a Sizzix alphabet to cut out the letters in her name.

Sassy Cheryl's PINK Challenge

Hello!! I am here today and playing along with the challenge on the Sassy Cheryl challenge blog. The challenge this week is PINK. I just love bunny images and use them all throughout the year, especially when I am making cards or anything else for my niece Zoie, she loves them as much as I do. Sassy Cheryl has some of my all time favorite bunnies too. I bought several new images a couple of weeks ago and have just now had time to sit down and color them. I love this one with the little ladybugs. After coloring everything with Copics, I went over the ladybugs with some Glossy Accents to make them really stand out and to give them a little dimension. Papers are DCWV, flowers and ribbon have been in the craft room for a while so I am not sure where they came from. Thanks for visiting me today!

I posted that I was going to try and take a Jeep full of water back home to Bradley County this weekend to donate to the homeowners and volunteers doing clean up from last week's tornado. I sent out the call and man did everyone respond. It was a last minute call too, so I wasn't sure how many people would see the email before I needed to head out. I was hoping for a full Jeep and that is what I got. One more case and I wouldn't have been able to see out of my rear view mirror. It was just amazing. Since people were bringing 2-4 cases at a time and loading them directly into the Jeep I didn't even realize how many there were until we unloaded it. I was also collecting quarters to be able to give people to use at the laundromat. Friends brought all the water that you see below,plus another dozen gallons of water that didn't make it into the picture, $125 in quarters and another $65.00 to use at my discretion. When I went to church with my parents on Sunday they announced that they were putting together baskets of personal care items to hand out. So I took the rest of the money and spent it buying razors, shaving cream and band-aids. I was also able to help assemble the baskets. Here is the water:

I have seen the destruction from tornados in person many, many times. I had been seeing the destruction online but I wasn't quite prepared for what I saw. It was so much worse. Both of the hardest hit areas there were in the school zones where I attended school. I grew up running around that neighborhood, playing with friends. There just aren't enough words. Thank you again for all the prayers and concern. Please keep praying for all the people that lost so much, including nine families that lost a loved one there and all the others that impacted throughout Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee.

Brown + ? Challenge

The current challenge on the Riley and Company blog is to use brown and another color. I love working with browns and I had bought some new paper at Michael's last week that I thought would work. Then while I was looking for paper for another project I found this brown and blue polka dot paper that I decided I would rather use. While I was going through my Riley stamps trying to decide which one to use I saw this and it made me think of spring. I love sitting outside with a cup of coffee and a good book. Outside a coffee shop is even better! This stamp always reminds me of doing that. In between thunderstorms over the past week or so we have had a couple of very nice almost spring like days, hopefully with more to come. Thanks for visiting me today!

Color Challenge

Hello! There was a color challenge this week in the i {heart} copics group on Paper Craft Planet. The challenge was to use the colors Y21, BG15 and B91 (or something very close). I don't have B91 so I used B95. Of course I think that is a perfect reason to place another Copic order! I started with Prisma markers and had a ton of blues and greens so those have been the last color families I started working on when I started collecting Copics. I colored this Magnolia image with Copics and then cut out the image. I found this paper in my stash that had the same colors in it. I know the paper came from Michael's but I am not sure what company it is from. A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned to my friend Angela that I did not have any yellow flowers and she brought me a little bag of them at our last craft night. I added some brads to center of the flowers and some ribbon from my stash. Thanks for visiting me today!

Red, Brown and Caramel Color Challenge

Hello! I made this card to follow along with the color challenge on the Riley and Company blog. The colors are red, brown and caramel. I stamped Cafe Riley with Memento ink and then colored everything with Copic markers and added a some hi-lights with a white gel pen. I used Nestabilities to cut out the image and a Fiskars border punch for the caramel panel. The papers are DCWV and the flowers are from Prima.

Speaking of white gel pens, I would love to have your recommendations for a good white gel pen that will work for a long time? I have a nice collection of them, but none of them work for very long.

I am excited because I am going to see Mama Mia tomorrow night! I saw the play a couple of years ago and loved it. My MIL gave me and my SIL tickets as part of our Christmas gifts. I listen to the music all the time and can sing it from start to finish. Have a great night!

Gardening Riley & Blogaversary!!

Okay, I know I have been showing you lots of Riley cards lately! Since taking the Copic class, I have been practicing coloring a lot and these images are just lots of fun to color and play with. It also helps that coloring Riley was one of the projects that we did in class, so I can kind of gauge my progress. And I am seeing some progress, for one thing it doesn't take me as long to actually finish an image. This card was for a challenge in the Hanna Stamps forum on SCS. It was a color challenge with a twist. The colors given were apricot and ballet blue and the twist was to add an additional color of your choice. I chose this rusty red color. I don't have any SU colors, so I picked the closest colors I had on hand based on the sample card. Stamp is from Hanna Stamps, image was stamped with Memento ink and colored with Copic markers, paper is DCWV and ovals were cut out with Nestabilities.

One year ago today, I made the first post on my blog! I can't believe how much fun I have had in the past year. I have "met" so many people, some of whom, I have even gotten to meet in person. One of the reasons I decided to start a blog was to encourage myself to craft on a more regular basis. I definitely have! I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone that drops by to visit and leaves me such encouraging comments. I am working on putting together some blog candy, so check back in the next few days! Autumn Blessings

I made this card tonight for the color challenge from SCS today. The colors were supposed to be Tangerine Tango, Chocolate Chip and Kiwi Kiss. I don't have any SU paper so I substituted the closest colors I had. I love working with fall colors. The stamp is from Clear Dollar Stamps, the set is called Autumn Blessings. I used CTMH Chocolate Ink and colored with Prismacolor pencils and OMS. I stamped and colored the image twice, cut out one of them and used pop dots to attach the two images. Then I used my chocolate ink and brushed over the stamped section. The ribbon is from a ginormous pack that I got at Jo-Anns some time ago.

My husband is building me something that I can't wait to show everyone. Hopefully it will be finished and installed tomorrow and I will take pictures to show you. TFL!

Almost the Right Colors

I was looking at the color challenges on SCS today and the colors were Real Red, Basic Gray and Always Artichoke. I don't have any SU paper so I looked up the colors in my catty and found close substitutes. But I couldn't think of anything that would include all three of those colors. I played with a couple of different ideas and layouts but everything I tried just looked off. And a little weird. I don't think the green that I picked was a close enough match or something. So I decided to use only two of the colors and came up with this. I do love red, gray and white together. The flower is from SU and the sentiment is from CTMH. Both are stamped with Brilliance ink and the flower was colored with Prisma Markers. Cardstock is DCWV and the brads are from Paper Studio.
