You've Got a Friend

Good Morning! Another Monday, so I thought I would post something bright and cheery this morning, especially since it is also tax day here! If you have read my blog before, you know I love the colors yellow and orange. They just make me happy. When I am making cards to cheer someone up I reach for those colors a lot. This image is from Shirley's 2 Girls and was colored with Copic markers with a little orange Stickles in the center of the flowers. I added a panel that had been embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder and used ribbon from Target's Dollar Spot and paper from DCWV. Off to work now, have a great day!!

Friends

Good evening! How was going back to work today? I had such a hard time to getting out of bed this morning. At least there are only four days in this work week so I guess I will make it. I made this card for a Friendship Challenge with my blogger group. I used paper from the Pink Armadillo pack from The Paper Studio. Like my faux stitching? Of course it is a stamp since I don't really have the patience to sew on paper. One day, I will get a little mini machine and then maybe you will see some real stitching on my cards. Until then, I will continue using my CTMH Sew Happy stamp set. The stitching was stamped with CTMH Chocolate ink. The Friend sentiment is from Studio G, also stamped with the Chocolate ink but then colored in with a glitter pen. Flowers are Prima and the brad is from the Paper Studio. Friendship Card

Since we are in Indiana this is short and sweet! I made this card using the CTMH set, Kindred Spirits. It is stamped with Palette Black Noir ink and colored with Koh-I-Nor pencils. That took a while to color! Some of the lines are so fine, I had to keep sharpening my pencils. The cardstocks are both DCWV, as is the ribbon. The buttons are from Making Memories I believe. Hats Off

I made this card with The Angel Company set Hats Off. There are several images of these cute little girls wearing hats. The image is stamped using Brilliance ink and colored with Prisma markers. Usually I pick out paper or a color palette before I color an image, but this one I stamped and colored at our workshop we had last week. So I matched paper to the marker colors I used. These papers were from a DCWV fall stack. I used square and round Nestabilites to cut and emboss the cardstock. The little beads are the pretend dew drops from Micheal's floral area. I stamped the sentiment that came with the set using CTMH Cranberry ink. Normally I wait to stamp a sentiment until I am ready to send a card because so many can be used for different purposes. Since this one is about friendship it could be for a birthday, get well, thank you or just a thinking of you card. Happy weekend to everyone!

Paper Piecing

This was my first attempt at paper piecing. I have seen a lot of cards made using this technique and I have been wanting to try it. I love the look but was a little intimidated because I don't really enjoy cutting out small things. I thought this My Favorite Things stamp set would be great to start with, it's not too small. I stamped the image and sentiment with Brilliance ink and colored in the coffee mug and arms with Copic markers. The paper on the dress and the background paper are both from DCWV. The pink is from a box of DCWV pre-made cards, the spring collection, I think. The brads are from Jo-Ann's they were in a larger pack with a lot of bright colors. Pretty simple, but I liked it. It is something that I think I will do again.

I have learned an important lesson; never agree to do something without getting very clear details of what your involvement with be and get it in writing! Don't take anyone at their word when they say three songs and add the words "maybe a couple more"! Three plus a couple does not equal twelve or thirteen. I am trying to learn all these songs and (gulp) learn them before Saturday morning. Fortunately someone took a couple of hours out of their busy schedule today to help me, so I am not feeling quite as sick about it. He also talked his wife into helping me with a couple of the songs too. Have a great week!

Like a Kid...

...in a candy store: I was on stamp overload today, I had so many new images to stamp and color in! What a problem to have, right? Well, I got all of my TAC stamps yesterday, Julie brought over my new CTMH stamps and I stamped a bunch of Angela's images last night at the workshop. I couldn't decide where to begin. I love the flowers in this set so I decided to start there. This set is from The Angel Company and it is called Friendship Flowers. It is colored with Prisma markers and then I went over the edge of each flower with a Jelly Roll clear glitter pen. The sentiment is also from the same set and stamped in black ink. The beads at the bottom are the decorative accents from Michael's, and I colored the bottom of them with my black Prisma marker so it would match the rest of the colors. Coloring those little things wasn't the easiest thing in the world to do and now my fingers have black streaks on them. This paper is from a pack of paper that was given to me as a gift and I am not sure of the maker and the cardstock is DCWV. Have a great rest of the weekend. I am off to color and stamp more!
