One Image, Three Cards

Hello! Yesterday was Shirley's 2 Girls Digi Day on SNR Card Universe. We were all given this free digi to work with and then met on the forum to chat and show everyone what we had created. If you haven't every participated in these Digi Days, you should check them out sometime, they are tons of fun. The next scheduled S2G one is on March 14th, I'll post a  reminder a little closer to the date. As soon as I saw this, I thought of first birthdays, but the more I thought about it, I thought that if you changed the colors, it could commemorate the first of anything: first date, first anniversary, first place. If you wanted to recognize a first place sports win, you could make the card with sports team colors. It could also be a general card to anyone that is #1 in your life. Since my first thought was birthdays and I have friends with little boys nearing their first birthdays I made cards for them. I made both cards with the same color combo, but each was colored different and uses a different layout.
I love seeing people make cards with the same image and getting different looks. It helps me be able to look at my own stamps in different ways so that I get the most use out of them. After quitting my other job a few months ago, my stamp budget took a hit so I have been enjoying this exercise in creativity! I decided to make another one using my favorite colors this time. I love this summer mat stack that I got from DCWV, it was full of yellows, oranges and reds.
Top 2 cards: Image from Shirley's 2 girls, paper is Making Memories, card stock is DCWV, punch from EK Success, and orange stickles.

Card 3- Image from Shirley's 2 Girls, paper and card stock from DCWV, colored with Copics and flower and brad from my stash.

Love Letter blog Hop

Anyone reading my blog on a regular basis, knows that I have discovered the world of digis recently and I have really using them and discovering new companies. One of them that I really like is Michelle Perkett Studio. I love images that are fun to color and hers are! So when I had the chance to participate in a Blog Hop using this fun image, I signed up. Hopefully you arrived here from Sammi's blog. If you want to check out the rest of the blogs you can find the complete list of participants here

Here is my card. I used the digi image Love Letter Fairy and after printing her, colored her with Copic markers and then I used a a Sakura glitter pen on her wings. I made a larger card than I normally do, it measures 5 x 7. Since I do not have paper this size to make into a card, I used a store bought card from my pre-card making days and I added my card front to that card as my card base. It had a blank inside so I was able to add my own "love letter" for my hubby's Valentine card. I used paper from Basic Grey and ribbon and heart shaped rhinestones from Hobby Lobby.
I even decorated the inside of the card, using the same patterns that are on the front of the card. My love letter was written with a gold metallic pen.

Thanks for stopping by today. Your next stop on the hop is Alison. The entire Blog Hop list can be found here.

Twisted Thursday--Chocolate Twist

Welcome to another S2g Twisted Thursday! I hope you had fun touring the Indulgence Blog Hop last week. Did you enjoy all those INDULGENCE images? I couldn't pick a favorite if I had to, each one I looked at was my new favorite. Are you ready to play along with us? Here is the sketch for this weeks challenge and the twist is CHOCOLATE!
Here is the card I made with Digi 120 PURSES. As soon as I saw this, I knew I wanted to make purses with blinged out handles. I tweaked the sketch just a little so that I could make the digi large enough to show the detail on each purse handle. For my twist I added the chocolate brown base and circles and that yummy chocolate colored ribbon. The DP is one of the INDULGENCE digi papers. To finish my card, I added some rhinestones and some pearl dew drops. One purse has metallic gold finished, one has pearls made with liquid pearl paint and the other has sparkly rhinestones.
Be sure to go through the rest of the DT's blogs, they all do amazing work! After you visit everyone else, be sure to head over to the S2G Challenge Blog and link your card to Mr. Linky. Remember there are two winners chosen each week that get their choice of a free digi.

Sweet Little Bunny

I hope you have had a great weekend. Ours has been great, lots of relaxing time. We spent some time together and then we both had time to do our own thing too. It was pretty much a perfect weekend! I am really getting into the digital stamps and this is from a company that I just discovered, I think Jennifer was the first one to point me in their direction. Anyway the name of the company is Phindy's Place and this was a free image that she gave us for reaching 200 members on Paper Craft Planet. Isn't that little bunny just adorable? I know this card will end up going to my niece for Easter because she is like me and loves bunny rabbits. After sizing and printing the image, I colored everything with Copics. The paper is from Making Memories. I am not sure where the chipboard flower came from, it was plain white and I covered it with the same paper that is on the edge of the card. I added a border of ric rak and the button to finish the card, both of those came from my stash and I no longer remember where I purchased them. Thanks for taking the time to stop by today!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!! What an exciting year that just ended and I looking forward to an even better year in 2010. My card today is celebrating the new year. This is an image from Mo's Digital Pencil, isn't it just adorable? I have been admiring these images for the longest time, especially on Peggy's blog. They really are a lot of fun to color, which is one of my favorite things to do. After printing my image, I colored it with Copic markers. I used DCWV card stocks, the silver and purple came from the Metallic Stack. The stars came from Jo-Ann's. This card fits the challenge for this week on the Mo's Challenge Blog.

Does anyone make resolutions for the new year? Does anyone keep the resolutions that they make? I don't really do resolutions, I just try to set a goal and give myself the entire year to get it done! It's also normally a pretty open ended goal too so I am more likely to stick with it. One of my goals for the past year was to try and be a little more outgoing and I think I met that goal. Anyone that knows me in real life knows that I am a little on the shy, withdrawn side, but over the past year I have tried many new things and in a lot of different situations. I have gone to classes at different LSS, joined a couple of different cropping groups, took the Copic Certification class and applied for a design team. I have learned a lot, got my Copic Certification, met so many new friends and was selected to be on the design team for one of my favorite stamp companies, Shirley's 2 Girls. It was definitely a great year. Moving into the new year, I am going to continue it, and I have already scheduled to teach some Copic classes at my LSS. So here's to you as you try to reach your own goals or resolutions!

Merry Christmas

I want to take this time to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. I hope everyone is able to spend their holidays with family, not only the family you were born into, but the family that loves and supports you. Merry Christmas!!
Gina and Kip

I will be back to regular posting on Monday, I've been a bit negligent this week as I have been shopping, baking, wrapping and all those fun holiday preparations. In addition to my regular cooking, I am attempting homemade cinnamon rolls for the first time! My card tonight uses a digital image and sentiment from Shirley's 2 Girl's. After printing the image, I colored it with Copics and Gelly Rolls pens. I used some distress ink on the sentiment. This paper is from a pack that I got at Archivers this summer, but the cover is now lost and I can't remember who makes it. I took two pieces of the same paper and cut out the poinsettias along the border and used foam dots of differing thicknesses to give it some dimension. I also added some more poinsettias that are from Prima to finish my card. thanks for stopping by!

Pink Penguin

Hello! My friend Angela and I were talking today about Christmas color combos and Pink came us and that we both had been seeing more pink in Christmas decorations and cards. That made me realize I haven't made a pink winter themed card. I was looking through my mountain of papers looking for something to go with this cute Shirley's 2 Girls digi penguin when I found this paper with the pink and black snowflakes. This was the free digi image from them yesterday for Digi Day on SNR Card Universe. The image was colored with Copic markers and I added glitter for the snow. The snowflake brads and the rhinestones are from Hobby Lobby. The rhinestone was clear but I colored it with a Copic marker to match the colors I used on the hat and scarf. The paper is DCWV and the ribbon is from my stash.

A funny story about this card though; as I was loading this card onto my gallery on SNR, I noticed that the card I made for the last Digi Day was also done with a pink and black color combo. I thought that was funny since it isn't a combo i use a lot but I used it on back to back challenges. Have a great night and thanks for stopping by!

Dinner Party Invites

My friend Linda asked me if I could make some invitations for a dinner party that she and a friend are hosting. She wanted a single open invite, not a card and she wanted something with a little glitz and bling to it. Since she didn't need too many I was able to help her out and get them done before I left town. I am happy to report that she loved them! I didn't have a stamp that was quite what she was looking for so we started looking at some companies that have digital stamps and ended up with this one from Modern Sugar Blvd. I was glad she picked this one because it was one of my favorites too! We went to Hobby Lobby and she picked out the paper in the colors she wanted and then I went from there. The image was printed out on my Epson printer and then colored with Copics. I used a green Spica pen to color her earrings and some details on the purse. The center of each flower is a little rhinestone. I did blur out the personal information so that I would not be posting their address and phone number. Linda loved the invites and wanted to know if I was going to post them on my blog and I said yes, but that I would blur out the address and phone number, she just laughed and said it didn't matter, because it wasn't her phone! Of course she was just kidding. I hope she has a wonderful party.

Happy Birthday Digi

Hello! Here is a birthday card I made with a free Digi Stamp that I got from Shirley's 2 Girls on SNR. Isn't she just adorable? I love the way she is popping out of that cake. After printing the image I colored it with Copic markers and added some glitter glue on the top and some black glitter on the inside portion where she is popping out from. There are some black pearls on the bottom cake layer. When I saw the image and was playing with ideas in my head, I was planning to used pinks and oranges for this image but when I sat down and started looking through my paper, I found that cool black and white paper with the numbers on it and thought that it would make a great card for someone that might be a little older, you know past twenty one that might not want to share their age with everyone. As the final touches, I added the black and white gingham ribbon and some sparkle with a Sakura glitter pen. Supplies: paper and card stock from DCWV, ribbon from my ginormous ribbon stash, pearls from Doodlebug, Sakura glitter pen, black glitter from Martha Stewart, glitter glue and Copic markers.

Speaking of birthdays, we celebrated Kip's tonight with his family and some friends. Our friend Mike took this picture for us. We had a great time and you can see some of his gifts there. Can you see how short my hair is? It's not tucked behind my shoulder. I decided to trim my hair last night and a little trim turned into about 5 1/2 inches or so. Oops. Now, it is right at the top of my shoulders. It feels pretty good. My hair is naturally curly and when Kip got home last night, it was brushed out straight and pulled back so he didn't notice. He left early for church and I was still in the shower, so he didn't see it until I showed up. He likes it though and so do I and I was ready for a change so all is good!
