Halloween Treat Container

I am back with a little more Halloween Goodness! Honestly I think I could make Halloween things all year long and never get bored with them. The challenge over on the Simply Betty Challenge Blog was to make some type of treat container. This challenge was perfect timing for me since I needed to get some samples made up. Every year I make Jenna and Samantha a several different types of treat containers and let them pick which one they want to take to school and give their friends. I am so glad their Mom isn't crafty and she lets me do this! For this challenge I decided to make an acetate box filled with some mini candy bars. I used Skeleton Peter from Simply Betty Stamps and colored him with Copics. I had to take the photo from the side angle because of the glare off of the acetate. The ribbon is from my stash and the paper is DCWV I think.

Here is a close up of the image. I really love this little guy, I think he is adorable. I decided to give him some blue tips to his hair as a nod to my younger blue haired self!

ETA: Someone emailed me and asked me if this was a pre-made box or one that I made and if I made it the dimensions. I did make it using an acetate sheet and some card stock. the dimensions for the acetate sheet is 8 1/4" x 6". If you want, let me know in the comments and I will do a full tutorial.

More Camp Mail

I have one more camp mail treat that I sent to my niece and nephew at camp this week. I had a lot of fun putting together these little treats for them and hope they have enjoyed them. Today's mail included a granola bar with a little Riley card. I used Campfire Riley, colored him with Copics and then added him to my little 3 x 4 card. Super cute and super easy!

Camp Mail

My niece and nephew are away at camp this week. We can send along notes and treats and the mail will be delivered to the kids and counselors each day. I remember when I would go away to camp, mail call was a very exciting time of day. So I wanted to put together a few little treats to send to them and a couple of the other kids that I know very well. The first one was these little Riley mini cards. I also included a great big bag of Life Savers for each child that could be shared with their cabin-mates.

I knew these notes and things would probably end up in the trash pretty quickly so I didn't want to spend a ton of time on them. For today's mail treat they are getting bottles of Gatorade and some chap stick that has sunblock in it. I just made a quick tag to hang over the bottle, stamped a quick little sun and then wrote them a note on the back of the tag.

Super easy, super quick and I hope the kid's enjoy my mail!

I know last week I said I would be back to posting regularly and then disappeared for a week! I went to do a post the next morning and there was no internet here. It was splotchy off and on all week and I couldn't get a post completed without losing my connection. I finally gave up in frustration. Kip finally figured out the problem was the splitter and got it replaced. That seemed to have fixed the problem so I am a happy blogger once again.

Halloween Treats and Party (lots of pics)

I guess this will wind up my Halloween posts for the year. I love Halloween and all the fun that goes into it. I love seeing all the trick or treaters dressed up in their cute little costumes as I pass out candy. I don't usually get into all the scary stuff since most of my little visitors are on the very young side, but I do love all the cute, fun stuff. Here are the treats that I made for Samantha to take to school with her this year. 

She picked out all the different patterns of paper that I had and we made as many different ones as we could. I made the sour cream containers and the she stuffed them with Hershey kisses and then she stamped the little tag and then wrote her name on the back of the tags.

When I make things for them, I usually show them several samples that either I have made or found online and then let them choose what they want to give out/help me make. Jenna picked these:

Since she is in middle school now, I didn't know if she would want to make something or not, but I was happy that she still wanted to participate. She informed me that there were 57 kids in her grade and that would be too many to make, so we settled on the 15 that are in her advisory group since that is how they celebrate birthdays and everything. I used a Shirley's 2 Girls image on these candy bar sleeves. 

We started out planning to incite my in-laws over on Halloween night for dinner. At the last minute, I decided to have a little party and ended up inviting about 20 people over for chili. Here are some random pics of my decorations:

Easter Treat Bags

I am so into Easter right now! I really do love rabbit images and so I love the make lots of little Easter items. This little treat box is actually a giant stamp from Inky Antics. You just stamp the image twice and then cut it out and then adhere the two pieces together. I like it because it is a pretty good size to put small surprises in and it's easy to make. The stamp is also from Inky Antics, I colored it with Copic markers and then cut the image out before adding it to my bag. I added some little flowers from Joiles and then a white bow using ribbon from my stash. The paper is the same plaid paper from DCWV that I used on the card yesterday. I really like the colors in it, it is still the softer colors of spring but works for either a boy or a girl. Thanks for stopping by!

Gift Box

I had a need for some small gift boxes and started out altering a box I already had but the gift items I wanted to put in there were just a little squished. To solve that problem, I made my own box. I used this digi image from Shirley's 2 Girls don't forget they are having a DT Call, info is here)and colored it with Copic markers. The sprinkles on the cupcake are micro glass beads and the marshmallows are the punch out of the embossed snowflake around the border of the lid. I used a Martha Stewart border punch that embosses and punches out snowflakes. Here's a slightly better shot of the lid:
And what did I want to put in my little box? Some K-cups for the Keurig coffee maker, one of each of the holiday flavors. I have it on good authority that Santa may be bringing me one of these for Christmas!

Christmas Tree Treat Box

One of the challenges in the Designing DIVAS blog group Secret Sister gift exchange was to make these Christmas Tree treat boxes. I loved them so much that I made a bunch of them! I was thinking that if you had a small table top tree that these would make a cute Advent type of activity. Each tree could be labeled with a number so they could be opened in sequence leading up to Christmas. The paper and ribbon both came from Hobby Lobby.

Halloween Poppers

The challenge in the Hanna Stamps forum on SCS is Trick or Treat, I made these Halloween Poppers that can be filled with treats. My image is Vampire Riley from from Hanna Stamps. I made them basically the same way you would make Christmas Poppers, but I cut them a little smaller. One of the reasons I did this is because I thought that a bunch of these on a platter would look like those peanut butter candies that are wrapped in the orange and black papers. My image was colored with Copic markers and then punched out with a Marvy scalloped oval. Due to the size of the popper, I didn't have enough room to add a backing piece of paper so I took a marker in the color that I wanted to use and then used the brush tip to go into the grooves of the scallops. The ribbon is from Wal-Mart.

To make these, I used a cardboard tube (paper towel or toilet paper roll) and I cut my tubes into 2 1/2 pieces. I measured out my papers to the length that would completely cover the tube and slightly overlap. For the width, I  measured 3 inches past the ends and cut there. As a general rule, I just kind of eyeball this step. If I am using longer tubes, such as a full size toilet paper tube, I will make the ends about half the length of the tube. You will need to add about 1/2 inch to what you have decided to make those sides, that much will be used when you bring in the sides to tie your bow. This does not work very well with card stock unless it is very thin, DP works better. I had bought some cheap card stock for this project and it is very thin and easy to work with. After adhering the covering, I gathered up one side and tied my ribbon. This is the point that you will fill your popper. After you have added your goodies and tie the other side closed. Then decorate them if you want and you are done. If my directions don't make sense or if you have any questions, feel free to email me and I will try to explain it a little better!

Birthday Treat Box

I am so on the ball here, and am so proud of myself! As soon as Jenna saw this Sophie stamp from Hanna Stamps she started planning her next birthday party. In August! Both girls love all the Riley and Sophie stamps and when they make cards those are the first stamps they reach for. The challenge on the Hanna Stamps forum today is to make anything but a card. Since she has been wanting to get started with these, I decided it would be the perfect time to make some plans. Jenna wants to use this stamp for the invitations and on her treat boxes. She decided to go with the manicure/pedicure theme here and plans to give her friends nail polish and manicure supplies. The template for this box came from a technique challenge on SCS a few weeks ago. I cute out the box with bright pink card stock and then coved parts of it with this orange and pink paper. The image is colored with Copics and Prisma markers. I used micro glass beads on the water to look like soapy bubbles.

I had an insane day to finish off my crazy week so I am going to grab my heating pad and crash in front of the TV for the rest of the night. I hope you have a great weekend.

Valentine Mailboxes

I was so happy that I actually found some of these mail boxes at Target this year. I love the Target Dollar Spot, I find so many cute things there, especially gift containers that can be altered. I had a hard time finding paper that I liked for this project. Most all of the paper I found had the hearts orientated in one direction which made them upside down on one side of the mail box. I was really happy with this Paper Studio paper that I found at Hobby Lobby. It looks good in both directions. The initials on the from used the CTMH Solo Letters and then I used pink embossing powder. Those pink foam hearts are covering my mistake that I made around the flag! Mistakes are just embellishment opportunities, right? Both mailboxes are stuffed with nail polishes, nail files and a pedicure set. I try to not do so much candy, but each girl also has a small sampling of their favorite candy, Fun-Dip for Samantha and Reese's hearts for Jenna.

We had a lovely Valentine breakfast this morning at Cracker Barrel. Kip normally eats breakfast with his Dad on Saturdays. I love eating breakfast out, but not enough to get up and out of the house. Hope your day was great. 

Valentine Treats

This is a sample of the treats that I help the girls make for their Valentine exchange at school. We made about 50 of these little triangle treat boxes and filled them with Hershey Kisses. I bought a giant stamp from Inky Antics that has the cutting and scoring lines on it so all you have to do is stamp it and then cut it out.  They decided to use white paper and then stamp with various heart stamps. Every treat box is an original work of art, I don't think there is a duplicate in the the bunch! I am not sure where all the heart stamps came from, we just picked out all the small hearts from their stamp collection and mine. All inks are CTMH and ribbon is from JoAnn's.  You can't really see it in the picture, but we made tags with a small circle mounted onto a small red scalloped circle. Once again, I was so happy that I have a Scor-Pal now. I have used mine far more than I ever thought I would. When I first got it, I had a place for it, but I use it so much that it just stays on my desk all the time. Kip uses it and the girls like using it too when they make cards and mini-books.

The girl's mom thinks I am a little crazy that I enjoy making things like this. She is not a "crafty" person. She provides the girls with art supplies but they still love coming over to my house because I have more stuff. I am proud to say both girls know how to use the Scor-Pal, can cut their own die cuts with my Sizzix and know the difference between wet and dry embossing! Have a happy Valentine's Day. Heart Shaped Box

I have a not so secret admiration of Martha Stewart and I watch her show every chance that I get. Unfortunately, not every day because of having to work, but I am normally off on Fridays so I can watch it then. Last week she made these cute little heart boxes. The template is available on her website if you would like one. Jenna and Samantha and I have been working on the Valentines for their classmates and they decided that they would like to make these for their teachers. They were very easy to make. We stuffed them with chocolates and then tied them with the sheer ribbon. 

Does anyone have any exciting Valentine plans for this year? Not us this year, it will be pretty low-key, but sometimes that is nice too. Have a great evening.

Candy Bar Wrappers

I have been working on Christmas gifts for the past few days. Here is my Santa Chocolate bar. For this project I took a large Hershey's candy bar and made a cover with red cardstock. Then I added the white trim and a strip of black down the middle. On top of that I used a square punch to pop out a silver square to make a belt buckle. I didn't really measure anything, I just used the wrapper that was on the candy when I bought it. Very easy and quick little gift! I will be adding them to a couple of gift baskets, but thought they would make something cute to give co-workers. Have a happy Saturday!

Happy Halloween Challenge

Today wraps up my week of Halloween goodies, I hope you have enjoyed looking at them as much as I have enjoyed making them. I love playing with my Halloween stamps. These are the treat holders that I made for my friends and co-workers this year. As soon as I saw these I knew I wanted to use the mini-pizza boxes from Jen Del Muro.

The challenge at Stamp Something this week was to make something for Halloween. That's great for me, I think I have more more Halloween treats this year than I ever have before!

I thought they were so cute and they were easy to make. They make nice little gifts because of the variety of things that you can put in them. I was also thinking that they would make great place cards with a little something for your dinner guests, or as any kind of little party favor. For my Halloween treats I made two different sizes. The one on top is the smaller one and was for my friend that is forgoing chocolate right now, hers was filled with green tea bags. the others were filled with chocolate eye balls and a stamper friend found some stamps in hers. The boxes are made from DCWV black paper. Both of these stamps were from Michael's dollar bin. The witch's hat was stamped with Palette black ink and Jeepers Creepers is stamped with CTMH White Daisy ink. The witch's hatband is colored with Prisma markers. I used all my leftover Halloween papers to make the papered area behind the stamped image. I think all the ones shown in the picture were DCWV. The ribbon is from Michael's too.

Halloween Treats

This is one of the treats I am taking for a co-worker tomorrow. I am off on Friday so I am taking mine in early. One co-worker is no longer eating chocolate or candy (can you imagine?!!), so this is a can of natural almonds. I covered it with black paper then decorated it. I am glad the lid was a Halloween color that I had paper to match. I used my small circle punch to make my polka dots, they are glued onto the black paper. I took the picture at an angle so you can see them. I am loving polka dots right now! The stamp is from Michael's dollar bin from last year, I stamped it with Brilliance ink and then colored it in with an orange Prisma marker. Only a couple more Halloween projects left to show you then I will be onto something else!

Halloween Treats

I have gotten in more crafting time than I thought I would this week. When I was looking over my schedule for the week, I didn't think I would have any time at all. This is the treat holders that I made for Jenna and Samantha to take to school with them. They were pretty easy to put together, which was good since I needed almost 50 of them! Samantha had choir practice last night so I took my Scor-Pal and paper trimmer and got everything cut out and ready to go, and then stamped them this afternoon. I wanted to do something other than just candy so I bought these Halloween pencils. I love stamps with candy corn on them for some reason. I got this one last year at Micheal's in the dollar bin. I stamped the image with Palette ink and colored in with LePlume markers, and used a corner rounder on the top corners. To finish it off I added some curling ribbon in Halloween colors. It kind of looks like a pocket protector, don't you think so? Thanks for stopping by!

Treat Box

Anyone that knows me IRL knows what a bargain shopper I am, always on the lookout for something at a great price. I bought these little boxes a couple of months ago at Wal-Mart. They had been like $19.96, marked down to $10, then to $6.00 and then the sign said 50% off sign above the clearance area. That's right, I got a box of 100 of these for only $3.00! Actually, I got the last two boxes they had. They were originally in the wedding section as they are Wilton Favor Boxes. When I saw them I was picturing Halloween and Christmas treat boxes and possibly something at Thanksgiving as well. We alternate where we spend the holidays: Thanksgiving with my family and then Christmas with Kip's family and then the next year we switch them. We are going to be here for Thanksgiving so I make make place cards or something with them.

These were super easy and quick to make. The papers are from DCWV's Fall Glitter pack and the ribbon is from Michael's Halloween section. I didn't take a picture of the sides but the ribbon runs through the bottom of the box and then up the sides, covering the middle section of the printed paper. Not sure what I am going to fill them with yet.

My parents are coming to stay with us for the weekend, but I will try and get some time in my craft room post, but if I am MIA, I am shopping with my mom!
